Since 2006, we’ve helped small and mid-sized companies hire with more confidence. More than 13,000 organizations across every US state and Canadian province, and 17 countries have used EmployTest. Our platforms administer over 60,000 tests to job applicants every year.
How EmployTest started
Founder Ken Crowell started EmployTest in 2006 to solve a simple problem. Resumes and interviews mostly capture what candidates say about their own abilities, not what they can actually do. EmployTest was built to fix this problem, giving HR teams an affordable way to verify real skills before hiring, without needing a large HR department or expensive enterprise software to get started.
That mission hasn’t changed in twenty years. EmployTest still exists to help companies avoid the cost and disruption of a bad hire.
What sets our testing apart
EmployTest was built for companies needing a wide range of pre-hire tests to choose from, but that don’t need a large enterprise pre-employment test contract. There’s no annual commitment required, tests come in flexible credit packs instead of a big upfront contract, and a company can start testing applicants within minutes of finding us.
That approach covers more than 200 tests today, spanning software skills, cognitive ability, attention to detail, industry knowledge, and workplace behavior. New tests get added as job requirements shift, so the library keeps pace with how work actually changes.
Who we work with
EmployTest fits companies of every size, from small businesses making their first hire to larger HR teams managing high volume. Here are a few example industries:
- Legal teams turn to EmployTest to test office support skills like typing, data entry, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Government hiring decisions need to hold up to scrutiny, which is where consistent testing matters most.
- Nonprofits work with tight budgets, so every hire has to count.
- Financial services firms catch costly skill gaps before they turn into expensive mistakes.
- Education administrators use it to build stronger support teams.
Different industries, same result: real information verifying what candidates can do, gathered before hiring them.
